About Sharon Mennell
Art has been a part of my life since childhood. Growing up in North Carolina, I was inspired by my grandmother, who taught me to value creativity, nature, and the beauty of things made by hand. Those lessons stayed with me, shaping not only my work but also the way I see the world.
Years later, my journey through cancer brought me back to art in an even deeper way. Painting became both a refuge and a form of healing. Through series like Survivor’s Tapestry and Beauty Beyond the Battle, I share messages of strength, endurance, and hope—reminders that even in the hardest times, beauty and renewal can emerge.
I draw much of my inspiration from nature—roses, sunflowers, trees, and organic textures often appear in my work. They are symbols of resilience and transformation, just as my own story has been shaped by both struggle and joy.
Through The Purple Picket, I share not just my paintings and prints, but also a piece of my heart and my journey. My hope is that my art brings encouragement, inspiration, and light to those who experience it.
